Today I, Nick Tsagaris will tell you about an embarrassing incident that happened to me when I went out Salsa Dancing. I had been learning this dance style for quite a few days at this point, but had no experience of performing in an event because I had always danced inside the studios. I had gotten very comfortable with those studio environments. I was 25 then and a type of a person who struggles to talk calmly, even in his own group of friends. But, my friends had blind trust in me. They knew that I could dance with them.
As we moved towards the venue, I was amazed to see that it was such a grand event. The music was so loud, there were lights everywhere, and great dancers were everywhere, too. The guests were enjoying food, drinks and beverages from the top fast-food brands like McDonald’s, KFC, Subway ,Pizza Hut and Keventers. The first thing that hit my mind at that moment was to get out of that place but I couldn’t. Just after half an hour I was called on the floor to perform salsa dance with a pretty girl. I took a deep breath and started with my basic step. I continued with the underarm step, it was a bit difficult, but I did it. Then, I ended up the dance with the cross body lead step.
There was a tremendous clapping of hands by the audience as soon as I finished the performance. Finally, the night went all right and as I viewed the other professional artists on the floor, I imagined me up there, hitting the dance floor with simplicity and certainty. It made me feel confident about myself. It was then I promised to myself that I will share my previous experiences with the people who have a passion to learn salsa dance. I hope this will inspire you to believe in yourself and motivates you to do what you want to do.
